It is said that the wights of waterfalls are likely to be the most friendly of the water wights. If a water wight is treated in the right way, it can be as close a felagi (friend) as a land wight, at least while its friend lives.
Fun fact: In 13th century Iceland, a bishop enacted a ruling that forbade Icelanders from waking up trolls or wights in waterfalls and howes.
